Our first GILIL experience

We  had a brilliant experience on Sunday 9 September when we attended our first 'Get It Loud In Libraries' event at Huddersfield Central Library.

For those who don't know about 'Get It Loud In Libraries' it is a unique award-winning project designed to give people who love music, the chance to see top-notch artists in their local library. Since 2005, it has delivered high quality gigs in libraries in towns and cities all over the UK, featuring breakthrough and established music acts such as Adele, Jessie J, Plan B, Cate Le Bon, Clean Bandit, Juliette Lewis, Meilyr Jones and many more. See their amazing photos and more information on their website: http://getitloudinlibraries.com/

We are hoping that they will come and put on a gig at our new Library@theLightbox once it opens, so we went to help out the Kirklees Libraries staff to see exactly what it involved.

We saw the calm before the storm, when the delivery of flight cases full of all the sound technology and pop-up stage arrived in Huddersfield Central Library. Then the sound check- in the second photo you see the support band the excellent Lucia from Glasgow, and then the headline act from Halifax- The Orielles in full swing. The fabulous GILIL Academy team of young people did all the front of house roles as well as the social media on the day and interviewing the bands-a brilliant experience for all concerned and we hope that one day soon we will be able to get loud and Live@theLightbox with the GILIL team.
