International integration via a musical mash up at our Refutea

So there was African drumming, there was Thai dancing, Scottish Ceilidh dancing with Kurdish barbers, lots of singing and there was rock and roll. This combined with plenty of cake and tea and much hilarity. Our Refutea (Host a Refutea) in June really was an afternoon we will never forget.

Learning Thai dance movements

It is hard to get across in words how fantastic it was to see members of our 'Music and Memories' group get fully involved in sharing their love of music with our Conversation Cafe group and many of our brilliant volunteers. Alan, taught us all a song from Sierra Leone, and David brought his guitar and had us all singing folk songs. We shared our love of rock and roll  with some of our Kurdish neighbours, and enjoyed some drumming and dancing from some brilliant African born Barnsley lads.

We have many videos we could share with you but this one above of Pat from our Music and Memories group celebrating her drumming prowess expresses it perfectly.
No-one wanted it to end. Roll on our next Refutea.
