Thank you for the music(al advice)

So this blog is about keeping everyone up-to-date with the development of our music project at Barnsley Central Library. Look out for forthcoming posts on musical activities that already happen at Barnsley Libraries, in case you didn't know about them and want to take part. We will also be blogging about the development of music production tasters and live music sessions that we want to deliver in the future.

We know that we are extremely lucky in Barnsley to have Barnsley Music Education Hub, Barnsley College, and University College Barnsley who all offer highly rated courses in all aspects of music production and performance. As a public library service, we want to help young people who are not quite ready for these courses, to get a taste of what amazing digital music kit can do to help them create music. Additionally when we are in our fantastic new Library@theLightbox we want to be a venue for music events organised by young people, for young people.

We want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have helped us already in our research and development stage for the music projects we are hoping to deliver in the future: CAMHS, The Prince's Trust, The Really Neet Project, YMCA, YOT, Rhythm Inc, Studio 12 at Leeds Central Library, Richard Lee, Clancy Mason, Simon Benger, Jamil de Dominicis, Stewart Parsons, Tim Canfer, Dave Benbow, Helen Ball, Hayley Youell, Chris Scarfe and many more lovely folk who have helped us with their brilliant expert advice and knowledge of the music scene in Barnsley.

We are currently bidding for funding to deliver these activities. If you are interested in getting involved or have suggestions of ways we can help you make music in the library, then please get in touch by email at barnsleylibraryenquiries@barnsley.gov.uk
