Friday mess about

As we are working towards holding regular live music events in our new Library@theLightbox next year, we decided to get some young musicians down to the library one Friday and try out our music equipment and work out what we need to put on proper events.

We were really surprised at how different library visitors of all ages joined in the music activities with staff and volunteers and we all had great fun.

Early on in the day David put on some quality chilled out dance tunes.

Then we had a visit from a young man who was scared of loud noises, the keyboard and the speakers when he first arrived. By the end of his visit he had a go with a guitar and drumming himself as well as singing beautifully in French a song he had learned at a local music group.

Daisy Pennington and Jonny Butler local musicians also came down and played and sang a bit for us to test out the space and equipment and give us their really useful opinions on how we can attract more young adults to enjoy music activities in the library.
